Terms of Business

Our terms of business are outlined on this page here. They also may be outlined in various sections of the website, but ALL our Business Terms are shown on this page in their entirety. If there is anything that you would like us to clarify please do ask.

1. Definitions

In our Terms of Business the following words are used, and their respective meanings are clarified as follows -
"Agreement" - agreement means the agreement between the Customer (yourself) and the Contractor (Stop A Drip);
"Contractor" - the contractor means the individual or company who are requested by the Customer to provide the services agreed upon;
"Customer" - means the person and/or company that purchase or agree to purchase services provided by the Contractor;
"Goods or Supplies" - are goods, supplies or materials required for carrying out the Services;
"Services" means any work carried out by the Contractor, or as stipulated in the agreement, quote or agreed job, otherwise also referred to as the Project;
"Quote or Estimate" - means the verbal statement or written documentation as issued by the Contractor setting out the services or supply of services;
"Normal Working Hours" - means the hours between 0800 and 1700 hours on weekdays of Monday to Friday, but excluding weekends and bank holidays.

2. Quotes / Estimates / Pricing

2.1 Prices given are currently inclusive of any taxes. We are NOT registered for VAT.
2.2. Quotations are only valid for a period of 30 days from the date they were given. After this period the Customer must obtain a new quotation, or ensure that the Contractor can carry out the works at the agreed price first quoted. The contractor reserves the right to not undertake the work if the quotation is not accepted within the 30 day period.
2.3. If for any reason the Contractor cannot carry out the agreed works because of delays beyond the Contractors control, and through no fault of their own, then the Contractor will not accept any liability if the agreed works run over the period of time initially agreed.
2.4. Unless otherwise stated, the quotation does not cover any other work by other tradespersons that may be involved in the project.
2.5. If work by other trades is specified within the Quote, the Contractor reserves the right to nominate sub-contractors to effect the same at its discretion. Any disputes arising from such sub-contracted work will not be reason for withholding payment for other work included in the Quotation, including that affected by the Contractor and/or their other sub-contractors.
2.6. The quotation assumes the following undertaking on the Customers behalf -
2.6.1 all necessary licences or planning permissions (if applicable) have been obtained and approved by the necessary authorities and have been granted to the Customer;
2.6.2 access will be unrestricted to the Customer premises or agreed property for the services to be carried out and undertaken by the Contractor;
2.6.3 the Contractor has all the necessary facilities at the Customers property (example electric power, lighting, water or gas) in order for the Contractor to be able to carry out the agreed services;
2.6.4 the Customer agrees that all areas that the Contractor needs to access will be free from obstructions such as furniture and all floor coverings.
2.7. The Contractor shall take every reasonable care during the carrying out of the works. However, the quotation does NOT include any subsequent incidental re-decoration upon the proper execution of the Services provided.

3. Payment Terms

Private Individuals and Domestic Properties:
Normal domestic properties are charged at the time of the completion of the agreed works involved. You may be required to pay in advance for materials if the cost of materials is very high. We will let you know if this is the case before work commences.

Commercial Clients and/or Commercial Properties:
Commercial clients are invoiced strictly 30 days nett, and all payment(s) must be made within this time period. Late or missed payments may result in additional charges - for example;
Stop A Drip may charge interest calculated on a daily basis of any overdue payments, until these payment(s) are made in full, at the rate of eight per cent (8%) per annum above the base lending rate of the HSBC PLC Bank prevailing from time to time until payments are made in full.

4. The Services

4.1 The Contractor will do everything they can to carry out the Services within the time frame stipulated, or if there was no time period stipulated, then within a reasonable amount of time. (Reasonable shall be defined by discussions and emails that may take place between the Contractor and the Customer).
4.2 Due to changes in the design or modifications by the manufacturers of Goods or materials or through lack of availability, the Contractor may not be able to supply the equipment originally specified in the Quote. In such event the Contractor, with the agreement of the Customer, shall supply a satisfactory and reasonable alternative item and the price shall be adjusted accordingly.
4.3 Unless expressly otherwise stated, where drawings are submitted with the Quote they shall be for demonstration purposes only. They should not be relied upon by the Customer and they are not prepared to specifically show the type or precise position of construction or installation.
4.4 The Customer warrants that any specifications they give to the Contractor for the completion of the Services or in relation to any Goods or material will be accurate and complete.
4.5 Any drawings or designs prepared by persons other than the Contractor or any supplies and any extra work necessary caused by defects in such drawings or designs shall be charged as an extra at the time, and will be the basis of a separate charge in addition to the quoted price at the time of the agreement.

5. Waste Disposal

5.1 As a professional plumbing company in Waterlooville Stop A Drip will always make sure that our customers are happy with the services we provide where possible. The one thing we would like to make clear however, is that we are not responsible for removal of rubbish or waste materials from your home.

5.2 However, for a small fee, we are happy to arrange for clearance of waste products and materials (this might be old radiators, pipes, old water tanks and so forth) from your premises by organising a hippo bag or skip to clear the waste materials. If you need us to do this, then please let our operatives know so we can provide this service for you. (Additional charges will apply for waste disposal as specified by the company providing that service).
